Dream Bigger

SeniorHealth Magazine Cover: Naomi JuddI admit I have used my ‘advancing’ age to put responsibilities, and in some cases, opportunities aside. Shoot baskets with the kids? I’m too old for that! Exercise…I don’t have time for that anymore. Help my neighbor move into their new home? Well, that’s for younger men, not me, after all, I’ve done my share of helping others move.

The reality is that I’m not getting too old, I’m getting too lazy! There is so much I can do that I don’t give myself credit for. I can dream bigger. I can do more. I can live with purpose, ambition, and drive even when I’m 60, 70, 80, and beyond. So what’s stopping me from dreaming bigger? Here are 4 keys to being able to dream bigger:

  1. Keep fit through regular exercise.
  2. Eat healthy through a planned daily diet.
  3. Expand your social circles by pursuing opportunities to become more social.
  4. Spar with your mind by learning something new each day.

If you will make these 4 keys part of your daily life, you will be able to start dreaming bigger…you will want to dream bigger. Get out from in front of that television and back to the things you love to do. Garden, walk, travel, volunteer, visit friends, clean up your house, shop, the sky is the limit!

This issue of SeniorHealth focuses on the annual SeniorFest event. It is the biggest and best health fair for seniors in Hampton Roads. You will find plenty of ideas on how you can get started on your quest to Dream Bigger. Read about healthy eating, opportunities to travel, and even learn a few new things to improve your life.

As for me, well, I’ve got a date out on the basketball court with some kids, and I may even go for a walk tomorrow. I’ve made a decision to “Dream Bigger” and so can you. See you at SeniorFest!
